D'SAS WINS VICO KNEEBOARD TITLE

After last weekend's final State Kneeboard surfing round held at Meano's, Flinders our very own Michael Di Sciascio "D'Sas" with a second place came out on top for the 2010 series and became Vico State Champion. It's not the first for Mike who has lost track but thinks he's won 8 or 9 State titles!.
Way stoked Mike saw this year's series of 4 state rounds Run by Kneeboard Surfing Vic as a perfect lead up for the Vico Kneeboard crew for the World Kneeboard Surfing Titles in March 2011 to be held, for the first time ever in Oz, at Phillip Island.

Team Strapper at 'Toll-Ipec' Surf Industry challenge over the weekend at Jan Juc. Strapper came in fourth behind Quiksilver , Ripcurl and Island. Strapper team was Robbo, Pikey, Tim, Hughy, James Sinclair and Harry Taylor. We made a good team effort in difficult surf conditions with Harry's scramble and sprint to the tag box, making it by 1 second to avoid a 5 point penalty, a highlight. Well done Island for win!

On Friday the 22nd of Oct we are having a 13th Beach Boardriders micro groms 12 and under surf session, supported by Strapper. The Micro’s (u/12)this year are fired up for the Micro Groms for the second half of this Year, we are seeing this division grow majorly, which is making the end of 2010 a exciting year for progression.

Billabong Grommets Surf Camp

Strapper Shaper Mike explaining the Strapper Robbo design surfboard at the “Billabong Grommets Surf Camp” at Torquay over Easter. 70 frothing Grommets sat thru the shapers design forum and then got to shape a board afterwards! Easter Saturday at Blunt Skateboarding & Surf Co Torquay saw team O’Neill of Jordy Smith, Bobby Martinez, Jarrod House, Mark Mathews and Roy Powers signing overtime! Richard is regarded as one of the world’s leading experts in surfing psychology and has worked with many of the worlds leading surfers to improve their own surfing performance. Author of ‘The Surfers Mind’ (www.thesurfersmind.com), Richard also works at the Australian Institute of Sport developing athlete performance.

After a series of heats at Waterfront, Torquay, Lara and North Shore we have reached the Grand Final showcasing the best skaters in Geelong and Surf coast. Skate Divisions include Micro, U13, U16, Open and Best Trick. Come down to the Waterfront Skate park from 11am and watch Geelong and Surf coast’s best skaters battle it out for the title!

Following the Strapper SK8 Series will be the Event #3 of the SbA DEW Series presented by Arnette
Skateboarding Australia (SbA) is continuing to roll out another huge summer of skate with the highly regarded talent pool of skateboarders from Victoria (VIC) given an opportunity to showcase their skills, when the third qualifying round of the six stops national series; the “SbA DEW Series presented by Arnette” drops into Geelong this Sunday the 24th of January. The nationally-coordinated event will unearth the best skate talent that VIC has to offer, with 24 of the state’s best skaters going on to represent VIC at the national finals being held in Sydney during March 2010.

Phill Page from Sea Me Surf Photography and Rich Bartle from Strapper Surf will be providing a Stand Up Paddle Board Display in The Terrace, main street Ocean Grove. Featuring 12ft rhino chasers to 8ft short board SUPS from the Naish, Paddle Surf Hawaii, GSI, Dale Chapman ranges. There will also be paddles from Kialoa, Quickblade, Naish and locally hand made wooden paddles. Stand Up Paddle boarding images taken by Phill and Kristi at local breaks along the Surf Coast and at the Mambo Competition in NSW will also be on display to show just how far the sport has progressed in the last 12 months. Weather permitting a small green screen will be set up for the kids to get wanted posters etc shot on the day for a bit of fun. Come along and arrange a lesson or ask for some advice.
